Massachusetts Residents Must Have Health Care Coverage

Are you a Massachusetts resident? Are you age 18 or older? Can you afford health insurance? If you answered yes to all of these, you must have health coverage for the entire year according to Massachusetts Health Care Reform. If you do not, you must pay a penalty through your tax return.

Watch for form MA 1099-HC in the mail
We will mail form MA 1099-HC to all Massachusetts residents who are covered under an Aetna medical plan. You should get it on or before January 31. This Form includes information to help you complete Schedule HC. The forms are based on the enrollment status and medical plan for all of your covered family members.

Learn about minimum coverage requirements
Avoid the tax! Get the right coverage. You must have a health plan that meets minimum creditable coverage (MCC) requirements. The Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority defines the coverage requirements. Please see the Commonwealth Health Connector website.

We remain in compliance with Massachusetts Health Care Reform Law.
